Context Clues

Hello, everyone!
So, if you had read the title you would have used context clues to figure out exactly what this post is going to be about.
Haha, so we will throw back to a skill you learn in fifth grade, finding the definition of a word using context clues.
I picked a difficult book and looked for words that you might not necessarily know. We will use context clues to figure out the definition, and then I will post the actual definition from the dictionary.

The Tell- Tale Heart
"Galton's idea's about eugenics seems almost comical in hindsight, yet there is no denying his genius."
Just saying, eugenics is:" the science of improving a human population by controlled breeding to increase the occurrence of desirable heritable characteristics. Developed largely by Francis Galton as a method of improving the human race, it fell into disfavor only after the perversion of its doctrines by the Nazis." Thank you google.

Now, let's assume you don't know the word "hindsight"
If we were to restate the sentence, it's basically saying that at first, you may think this idea of a perfect race is a joke, but to come up with such an idea, you have to be a little genius.
so hindsight could be some sort of "first impression."

Now, If I go on google search, here is the definition of hindsight:
noun
  1. understanding of a situation or event only after it has happened or developed.
"with hindsight, I should never have gone"

In short terms, it is some sort of first impression in the sense that you don't understand it at first.
Well that's all today,
xoxo

How we can learn about narrative writing through independent reading

Hello everyone!
Yes yes, it's Monday!
That means I'm going to hit you with two extra hard questions today. 1. Take any book. Read it.
What can you learn about narrative writing through it?
For example, The Tell-Tale Brain has really good factual as well as sensual details that we can learn from and incorporate into our own writing.
At the moment, I am writing a historical narrative about the dustbowl and I can definitely incorporate a ton of sensual and factual details to make it more interesting.
The second question is: what happens when we mess with mother nature?
Simple, mother nature is unhappy and starts to try to fix itself, usually making things worse for us.
Ask yourself these questions to improve your writing as well!
Nice and short to not hit your head to hard on a Monday morning.
Read, read, read

How books can help you understand life

Hello dear readers :3
Today we are doing a very interesting topic: how a book can help you understand life. I'll zoom the topic in a little on to human nature.  We, humans, (who said I am o.o) < just kidding]] are very strange creatures, but yet, very predictable. Because of this, I find it most complicated, yet easiest of all to write about people and their lies as opposed to other creatures. When writers write about their main characters, you'll realize that you may start dreaming about these characters at night, imagine them in your everyday life. It is so realistic, for example in The Tell-Tale Brain, if you told a patient that they needed surgery or something, they would either be surprised, or scared, and this book helps me understand exactly what to do with people I know who are scared, and that it's hard for people to accept change.
That's it for today.

How the setting affects the plot in a chapter of the Tell-Tale Brain

Hello everyone!
So I will get started quite quickly today, for I want to keep this nice and simple.
For one thing, I wasn't you to think about what is the purpose of setting
I realized that in some stories, setting can really affect the plot. For example, if the story didn't take place in a town of poor people and poverty in Les Mis, the story would come out completely differently.
This book is a collection of interesting doctor cases, so it is hard to find a specific setting, but if you look closer, these small settings take part in the plot.
I was reading a case about a woman who can only see in 2-dimensions. Her whole life (which is kind of like the setting) she grew up seeing everything in two dimensions. In the end, she see's the falling snow for the first time, falling in her hand in three dimensions.
I will leave off on a good note.
Think about it.

So why read or teach literature? How will it help in life?

Hello my wonderful readers -.-
It has been a while- thank you very much, I had a great vacation.
Currently I am reading a college level book The Tell-Tale Brain and I somehow came to enjoy it. It's a collection of a Neuroscience's weird cases, and all of them are so heart touching, I realized I can interpret them in a different meaning, and use the way he helps people in everyday life.
In fact, recently,  I have been re-reading short stories and classics, and suddenly a thought hit me. I have come to realize how truly important it is to read these classics on your own time.  These classics are the bases for all the now day stories you are reading- Romeo and Juliet is a good example. Any plot with forbidden love is basically based off a Romeo and Juliet plot line. Classics as well teach you important lessons, whether it is to stand up for who you are, pursue your talents, never give up, and so on and so forth. In fact, these lessons can be infinite, because everybody understands and interprets each story differently and in their own way. Personally, I find that teaching or reading literature is extremely important.
It will make you more wise, it will help you connect in your reading comprehension, as well as become a better reader and analyzer.
Classics also throw you back to hundreds of years back, when there were no televisions and computers, and lets you have a first look at what life was truly like back then.  Why say no when you can achieve so much?
Sorry for not posting, again, I was sleeping on the beach ;)
